Stewart is a small community of approximately 400 people at the head of the Portland Canal on BC's northwest coast, located about 65 kilometres west of the Cassiar Highway via Highway 37A. Stewart is Canada's most northerly ice-free port and sits directly on the Alaska border — the American community of Hyder, Alaska is immediately adjacent.
