CRA My Account Canada 2025
CRA My Account is the Canada Revenue Agency's secure online portal that gives you 24/7 access to your personal tax information. From checking your RRSP contribution room to updating your direct deposit details or filing a tax return adjustment, My Account is the most efficient way to manage your taxes without calling the CRA directly.
How to Register for CRA My Account
There are two ways to register:
Option 1: Sign in with a partner (banks)
If you have online banking with one of the participating financial institutions (RBC, TD, Scotiabank, BMO, CIBC, Desjardins, and others), you can sign into My Account directly using your existing banking credentials. No separate registration is required.
Option 2: Register directly with CRA
- Go to the CRA website and choose "Register"
- Provide your SIN, date of birth, and information from your most recent tax return or Notice of Assessment
- The CRA mails a security code to your registered address (takes 5–10 days)
- Enter the security code online to activate full access

Security Tips for My Account

- Never share your CRA login credentials with anyone except authorized representatives
- Be alert to CRA-impersonation scams — the CRA will never call demanding immediate payment by gift card or cryptocurrency
- Review your account periodically to check for unauthorized changes to your direct deposit banking information
Checking Your Tax Refund Status
After filing your return electronically, the typical processing time is 2 weeks. You can check your refund status through My Account under "Tax Returns" or use the automated phone service at 1-800-959-1956. Status options include: received, assessed, and refund sent. Once your direct deposit refund is sent, it typically arrives in 1–3 business days.
