Ontario residents looking to buy an EV in 2025 have one key thing to know upfront: Ontario has no provincial EV rebate. The provincial program was cancelled in 2018 when Premier Doug Ford took office. However, Ontarians can still access the federal iZEV rebate of up to $5,000.
Ontario's EV incentive program was one of the most generous in North America when it was active. The Electric and Hydrogen Vehicle Incentive Program (EHVIP) offered up to $14,000 on qualifying EVs.
