Orleans is Ottawa's largest and most vibrant east-end suburban community, with a strongly francophone character and excellent family amenities. Located 15–200 km east of downtown Ottawa, Orleans has grown dramatically and now has its own city-within-a-suburb feel, with Place d'Orleans Mall, multiple LRT stations (since Stage 2 opening), and a strong community identity.
Orleans offers good value relative to inner Ottawa. Single-family homes range from $600,000–$800,000 in 2025, with newer areas like Avalon running slightly higher. Townhomes are a major segment here at $430,000–$580,000. The LRT connection has improved property values on the transit corridor.
Avalon is Orleans' master-planned newest community with newer homes, commercial services, and excellent schools. It's among Orleans' most desirable areas. Homes: $680,000–$850,000.
Chateauneuf and the Cardinal Creek Village area have newer development with pond and green space integration. Popular with families. Homes: $650,000–$800,000.
Chapel Hill is an established Orleans neighbourhood with excellent schools and community programming. The Chapel Hill Community Centre is a hub of activity. Homes: $620,000–$780,000.
Orleans is one of the most important francophone communities in Ontario. The area has strong French-language school options (Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est), French-language community services, and a bilingual cultural fabric. For francophone government workers, Orleans offers an authentic bilingual community.
Ottawa buyers pay Ontario LTT only. On a $700,000 Orleans home: $100,475. First-time buyer rebate: up to $4,000.
