Important: The July 2025 payment is a key date because the CRA recalculates your benefit amount using your 2024 tax return. Your monthly CCB may go up or down starting in July.
Every July, the CRA resets CCB amounts for the new benefit year (July to June). The calculation is based on the previous year's tax return:
| Benefit Period | Income Used | First Payment |
|---|---|---|
| July 2024 – June 2025 | 2023 family net income | July 18 or 19, 2024 |
| July 2025 – June 2026 | 2024 family net income | July 18, 2025 |
If you filed your 2024 tax return late (after April 30, 2025), your July payment may be delayed or temporarily set to zero until CRA processes your return.
When your CCB, GST credit, or EI payment arrives, make sure it lands in an account with no fees. KOHO is free, earns cash back, and has tools to help you budget your benefits. Use code 45ET55JSYA for a bonus.
Get KOHO Free — Use Code 45ET55JSYADirect deposit is the fastest and most reliable way to receive your CCB. Funds arrive in your bank account on the payment date itself. To set up direct deposit, log into CRA My Account and add your bank account details under "Direct deposit."
Both you and your spouse or common-law partner must file a tax return every year, even if you had no income. If either return is missing, the CRA will stop your CCB payments. The filing deadline is April 30 for most Canadians and June 15 for self-employed individuals (but taxes owing are still due April 30).
If you're receiving paper cheques instead of direct deposit, ensure your mailing address is current in CRA My Account. Cheques take 5–10 business days to arrive by mail.
Changes to your family situation affect your CCB entitlement. Notify the CRA within 90 days of a separation, divorce, new partner, or change in who primarily cares for the children.
